thickly clothed with urticating hairs the egg sac (constructed 9 July 2000) of M. robusta was taken away from the female on 22 August 2000. Matings took place 27 April and 20 May 2000.

Dicht mit Brennhaaren bestückter, am 09.07.2000 gebauter Kokon, dem Weibchen am 22.08.2000 fortgenommen (Kopula erfolgte am 27.04. + 20.05.2000).

Because of the size of the female (60mm) there were only ca. 30 eggs to be found inside the egg sac. There were no interfile eggs. On damp tissue and at 25°C they will now be kept artificially.

Durch die geringe Größe des Weibchens (ca. 60mm) befinden sich "nur" 36 Larven des 1. Stadiums im Kokon. Unbefruchtete Eier sind nicht zu finden. Auf feuchtem Papier und bei etwa 25°C werden sie nun künstlich gezeitigt.

The size of the youngs/spiderlings is equally large as those of Theraphosa blondi. Therefore one will find just a small number inside the egg sac.

Die Größe der Larven/Jungspinnen entspricht etwa der von Theraphosa blondi, ist also vergleichsweise sehr groß! Dadurch auch die geringe Zahl der Nachkommenschaft.

The place of "crime": Provide a high firm substrate, a deep humid burrow and a humidity of 98% and a temperature of max. 24°C for this species. This will be essential for the keeping and breeding.

Der Schauplatz: Das Terrarium des Megaphobema-robusta-Weibchens, in dem auch die Paarungen stattfanden. Ein hoher Bodengrund aus fester Erde und eine tiefe, kühle Höhle, sowie eine Luftfeuchte um etwa 98% bei gleichzeitig niedriger Temperatur (24°C maximal) sind für die Haltung und Zucht nötig.

on the 29 August 2000 some of the larvae have moulted into the second larval stage. One day later they will all have moulted!

Am 29.08.2000 haben sich bereits einige der Larven ins 2. Stadium gehäutet. Einen Tag später werden es sämtliche 36 sein.
